From the Boat: Lisbon to the Algarve

The first leg of the route, told from the deck. Two stops, one estuary survey, one lagoon clean, and a lot of waiting for wind.

From the BoatLisbon to Faro, Portugal

We left the Tagus on a falling tide with two volunteers from the estuary survey team on board. Their job was to show us the seagrass meadows from the water before we lost the light.

Three days later, after a slow passage round Cabo de São Vicente, we were tied up in Faro and wading into the Ria Formosa with the monthly clean-up crew.

What we carried between the two

Each stop sent us on with something for the next: a sorting method from Lisbon, a list of questions for Faro, and a set of photographs both groups can use.
